"Ballad of Birmingham" Before You Read

Well I have thought long and hard about this, and I think what I would like for you to turn into a ballad is a time in my life where I was very confused. It’s funny because at the time I was so sure I was doing the right thing. I put my self in harms way and disrespected my family for a boy.

It was around two in the morning and me and my boyfriend would not stop arguing. Till he finally broke up with me, but I wasn’t ready to let go so I continued to call back balling my eyes out. My mother unplugged the phone due to how loud I was being and how late it was. I started going crazy I felt like I needed to get him back as soon as possible or he would forget about me. So I begged and cried for her to plug it back in and refused to let any one go to sleep till the phone was plugged in. I turned on the lights and started demanding for the phone cord. She of course wasn’t having it, so finally my little brother stood up to me. He’s little but he’s big. He turned off the light and told me to go to bed. I turned it back on and told him to ho to hell. Then he turned it back on, and he turned it back off. I was so stressed and tired of waiting I punched him as hard as I could in the face. He immediately pushed me back and I flew to the stairs I stood up and rushed him and my mom broke us up. She gave me fifty cents and told me to take my problems else where. That was all I needed I took off out the door bare foot and in pajamas. I ran to the nearest pay phone and called him again as soon as he realized it was me calling he hung up and turned off the phone. My world broke down. I didn’t know what else to do I panicked and was so desperate the only thing I could think off was to stick my thumb out.

Thank god to this day that the man who picked me up was a border patrol agent, and he wasn’t just going to give a fifteen year old girl a ride at three o’ clock in the morning with no shoes on with out an explanation. So I laid my guts out. I told him that I lived in Spring Valley and my boyfriend just kicked me out with no shoes on so I needed to get home. Luckily when he asked me to call my mom she didn’t answer. When I arrived at his house the door was open like I knew it would be so I went into his room and got him back.
